One Ontario appoints LandLogic as technology partner for province-wide AI-enabled permitting platform
One Ontario today announced LandLogic as its first official technology partner for the development of a province-wide AI-enabled permitting platform designed to modernize development approvals across Ontario.
Governments have invested billions of dollars into housing acceleration, municipal modernization, and permitting reform initiatives. Yet development approval timelines have remained largely unchanged, improving only marginally from 19.1 months in 2022 to 18.8 months in 2024. One Ontario believes the challenge is not a lack of investment, but a lack of shared infrastructure.
Today, Ontario’s 444 municipalities continue to procure, implement, and maintain separate permitting systems built on fragmented datasets, disconnected workflows, and inconsistent processes. And as municipalities begin exploring AI-enablement of those processes, that same fragmentation will simply be replicated in a new generation of technology. The result is duplication at scale, creating friction for applicants, municipalities, and approval agencies alike.
One Ontario selected LandLogic to be part of the AI for Housing Coalition because it has spent years transforming fragmented zoning, planning, and property data into a standardized intelligence layer that can operate across jurisdictions. The AI permitting technology LandLogic is building on top of that foundation includes requirement identification, automated code and compliance checking, and agentic submission and tracking workflows. Many of these capabilities are already being deployed through municipal and industry initiatives across Ontario.
Consistent with the principles behind Bill 72, the Buy Ontario Act, One Ontario believes critical public infrastructure should be built with Canadian expertise wherever possible. The partnership with LandLogic reflects that commitment, bringing together Canadian technology and AI leadership to develop a solution designed specifically for Ontario’s regulatory environment.
In a statement, One Ontario representatives said the initiative was created around a simple idea: Ontario should not need hundreds of disconnected permitting environments operating independently when municipalities are working within the same broader planning and regulatory framework. The coalition believes a coordinated, province-wide approach can improve transparency, reduce duplication, and create a more predictable path through approvals for applicants, municipalities, and review agencies.
The platform is being designed as scalable intelligence infrastructure, not traditional permitting software. It will support AI-enabled workflows, direct integrations, and human-supported processes so municipalities and review agencies can participate whether they have modern digital systems in place or not. Over time, applicants will be able to navigate the approvals process through a single, coordinated experience rather than multiple disconnected systems.
